A harmonious fusion of nature’s industrious spirit and the mesmerizing precision of geometric paper strip layering.
"Hixbeeia" is a grand-scale tribute to the intricate world of the honeybee. Centered around the mathematical perfection of the hexagon, this artwork explores the vital connection between the bee, the sunflower, and the divine order found in nature. It is a visual celebration of productivity, sunlight, and life itself.
The Art of the Layered Strip
In this 70×70 cm masterpiece, the composition is built through the rigorous application of high-relief paper strips. By hand-forming each individual honeycomb cell and petal, I have created a tactile landscape that invites the eye to explore every edge and shadow.
- Geometric Hive: The background features a complex network of hand-layered hexagons, creating a rigid yet beautiful structure that supports the entire composition.
- Radiant Sunflowers: Each sunflower is a burst of warmth, crafted with meticulously curved paper strips that capture the vibrant energy of a summer garden.
- The Golden Bee: The focal point is the bee, rendered with delicate precision to highlight its fragility and strength, serving as a reminder of its essential role in our world.

Preservation & Display
- Shadow Box Sanctuary: Due to the complexity and height of the paper hexagons, the piece is housed in a deep shadow box frame to protect the fine paper edges from dust and pressure.
- Light & Shadow: The geometric nature of this piece makes it particularly dynamic under directional lighting. The shadows cast by the hexagonal walls and sunflower petals change throughout the day, creating a "living" art experience.
- Longevity: To keep the golden yellows and deep blacks vibrant, it is recommended to display the artwork away from direct, harsh sunlight.
"Where the honeycomb meets the hand-placed strip, nature finds its perfect form."
